THE ROAD THAT LED ME HERE: I've been a workaholic since my teenage years. Not only did it help pave a path to independence, I also just really enjoyed feeling useful. It's been a while since I welcomed people into Baskin-Robbins and took their orders, but from then, my employment experiences are nothing short of varied! Looking back, sometimes I amaze myself with all the jobs I've had. For a long time, I worked for me. Most of that time I held multiple jobs and worked weekends as well as holidays. I could handle long days and long hours because I had very concrete goals in mind like finishing school and starting my career. If you had asked me then, I don't know that I could have imagined life ever being any different.
WHAT INSPIRED ME TO PIVOT: After my first little one was born, I found myself confronting feelings I was very unfamiliar with. I had a 12-week maternity leave, and although I was grateful for it, I went right back to working and for the first time, it felt wrong. Suddenly, I had something much more important needing my presence and also all of my energy. My priorities shifted in the blink of an eye, and as it dawned on me, I began to realize my current options were extremely limited. Shortly after, my family faced some challenges that would shake us to our core. My time spent at work no longer felt like a benefit when all it did was take me away from where I really wanted to be, taking care of the people that mattered most to me. As changes brought on by a worldwide pandemic began to restructure life as I knew it, it became clear that I could either take charge and make the necessary changes I needed, or I could yield to the demands of my working environment and let my lack of choices and freedom continue to suffocate me mentally and spiritually.
THE SOLUTION THAT TOOK THE WEIGHT OFF MY SHOULDERS: The business I run today is one that anybody with the right motivation can duplicate. I represent award-winning Personal Development products.
